I Am One of the Millions Missing

Do you know one of the millions missing? For those with disabling chronic illnesses, it can feel like they are invisible, watching their lives from a remote distance. In this emotional talk, author, educator and advocate Maggie Boxey shares what her life is like living with ME/CFS, and how she has found a community of people for whom "feeling better" might never be an option. Her message will change the way you think about chronic illness and provide ways for able-bodied individuals to help and advocate for those millions missing.

Maggie Boxey, author of The 3 Things, is a Navy veteran, former math teacher, and passionate advocate from Fitzgerald, Georgia. Despite living with ME/CFS, Maggie has dedicated herself to fostering progress and equity in south Georgia, serving on the board of SOWEGA Rising and advocating for ME/CFS awareness through SolveME and #MEAction. A proud wife, mother of five, and woman in recovery, Maggie embraces life’s challenges with resilience and creativity. When not speaking or serving others, she enjoys writing, painting, crocheting, and cuddling her Pitbull mix, Jack. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
